AI threat hunting tools compared (2026)
Between June and July 2026 three agentic SOC vendors added threat hunting: 7AI, Dropzone AI and Prophet Security. This page compares what each publishes about its hunting capability, alongside Morpheus Threat Hunting, a planned module targeted for the end of November 2026. Every cell is drawn from each vendor’s own published material on the date shown; “not published” means we found no public description, not that the capability is absent. Last verified 19 Oct 2026.
What each vendor does well
7AI
Threat Hunt, Threat Intel Hunt and Skills (launched 1 June 2026). An analyst describes a technique, behaviour or ATT&CK tactic in plain language; the platform builds a hunt plan, runs it across live telemetry and returns findings. Threat Intel Hunt launches investigations from incoming intelligence automatically, and Skills lets teams customise how the agents work. 7AI frames Threat Hunt around the NIST SP 800-53 RA-10 threat hunting control and cites its PLAID ELITE managed-service team using it in production.
Dropzone AI
AI Threat Hunter (announced March 2026, generally available 29 July 2026). Dropzone also describes an AI Threat Intel Analyst that turns new advisories into ready-to-run hunt packs. Hunts are federated across SIEM, EDR and cloud, driven by a catalogue of curated hunt packs, and Dropzone quotes roughly an hour per hunt cycle against ten to twenty hours manually. Dropzone’s writing is explicit that clean hunts are useful: each one confirms coverage for a technique class.
Prophet Security
Prophet AI Threat Hunter, plus AI Detection Engineer, generally available since 30 July 2026. Hunts run in plain language, from curated hunt templates and on a schedule, driven by research into the organisation’s own environment. AI Detection Engineer turns hunt and investigation findings into detections, backtests each against the organisation’s recent history, ships it as a reviewable, version-controlled change with a person approving what goes live, and maintains a live ATT&CK coverage map built from real investigations rather than a rule inventory. This is the bar for rule testing, and Morpheus is building to it.
Morpheus (planned)
Morpheus Threat Hunting points the Morpheus investigation engine at hunting. Its distinguishing claim is what a hunt returns: the reconstructed attack path rather than matches, plus a queryable record of what was hunted and came back clean, a self-check of Morpheus’s own triage when a hunt finds something an alert should have caught, and views of hunting data built from a sentence. Nothing changes without human approval.

Competitor cells as each vendor publishes them, verified 19 Oct 2026. “Not published” means no public description was found and is not a statement that the capability is absent; 7AI and Prophet do not publish technical documentation. The Morpheus column describes a planned module targeted for the end of November 2026. Next scheduled re-verification: 22 December 2026.
Four questions to ask any of them
- After the first match, does the hunt keep investigating until the trail ends, or return the matches?
- Show me every technique you hunted last quarter, against which sources, and what came back clean.
- When a hunt finds something an alert should have caught, do you say why, and do you check your own triage?
- Before a new rule is enabled, show me what it would have done on my last three months of data.
